Polesaver 20 Years of expertise protecting telegraph poles

• Are you looking for large scale reductions in maintenance and replacement costs of your telegraph poles?
• Do you need to reduce the possibility of injury or death to maintenance staff when working on the pole?
• Do you need to try and eliminate potential injury or death to members of the public?.

Wooden telegraph poles fail as a result of ground line rot, decay & termite attack

Polesaver ground line barrier sleeves provide pole protection where it is needed; at the ground line section the most common point of telegraph pole failure.

Wooden telegraph poles are a common feature in telecoms networks the world over, low in cost, readily available, lightweight, and strong they are a proven and effective means of supporting overhead telegraph lines.

Dramatically extending a pole’s life

To maximise pole life, preservative treatment of wooden telegraph poles is used to impart uniform protection along the length of the telephone poles against the effects of rot, decay and termite attack. Unfortunately however, the rate of attack from decaying organisms is anything but uniform.

At the ground line decay rates are very high and this is the common point of telegraph pole failure where high decay rates and maximum mechanical loading work in unison to break the pole.

And this is a waste of treated wood as the rest of the pole deeper in the ground and above ground are usually still in excellent condition with many years of useful service life left.

Regular inspection and treatment

Instillation of Polesaver onto telegraph polesRegular telegraph pole inspection and sometimes wood rot treatment are a widely practiced method of attempting to spot rotten poles before they fall over. These methods all have one thing in common; they do not show how strong the pole is and they can only be used to indicate whether the telephone poles have suffered from the effects of wood rot.

For instance most of the core of the pole can be rotted away with minimal effect on the telephone pole strength. Yet virtually undetectable early rot in the outer layer of the pole can reduce the poles strength by 40% or more. This is a common but often undetected cause of failure especially when they are being climbed by maintenance staff or when bad weather strikes.

Polesaver barrier sleeves provide a simple but highly effective solution to problems by giving extra protection against the causes of rot, decay and termite attack at the vulnerable ground line section of the pole. Polesaver sleeves typically double the life of the pole giving very large cost savings of up to $10 million per year per million telegraph poles installed.

They are low in cost, non-toxic and can be quickly and easily applied to new poles or poles already in service significantly reducing the requirement for telephone pole replacement. Polesaver sleeves are tough, durable and compatible with all normal means of telephone pole installation and telegraph pole installation.

With the backing of over 20 years proven effectiveness in preventing pole failure  full independent field testing Polesaver complies with American Wood Protection Association standards. Polesaver ground line sleeves provide you with peace of mind telegraph pole  protection when used in conjunction with standard telephone pole treatment.
