Postsaver Fence Post Sleeves Endorsed in National Highways Low Carbon Opportunities Register

Postsaver is proud to announce that its innovative ground-line barrier sleeves have been endorsed within the National Highways Low Carbon Opportunities Register, a key initiative promoting sustainability and carbon reduction in the UK’s strategic road network infrastructure.

The endorsement underscores Postsaver’s commitment to delivering sustainable and long-lasting solutions for infrastructure projects, aligning with National Highways’ ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

The Postsaver +PLUS dual-layer barrier sleeve prevents fence post decay at the critical ground-line section, offering a guaranteed 40-year lifespan for UC4 treated timber posts. This innovative solution ensures posts retain strength and eliminates the need for frequent replacement, significantly reducing carbon emissions associated with timber production, transportation, and disposal.

By maximising the life of fence posts, Postsaver offers a practical and scalable solution for roadside fencing, a critical component of the National Highways network. This endorsement positions the product as a valuable tool in the transition to a low-carbon infrastructure and enables contractors to confidently continue to use wood, a highly transportable, easy-to-use, and sustainable roadside fencing material.

National Highways’ inclusion of Postsaver fence post sleeves in its register reflects the value of durable, eco-friendly materials in reducing carbon intensity. Over a comparative 40-year lifespan, a wooden post protected with Postsaver +PLUS would sequester more carbon than it emits, storing 15.6kg of carbon, compared to the 24.9kg released by using Wood Plastic Composite materials, or 13.2kg released by using concrete. In addition to storing carbon, fence posts protected with Postsaver +PLUS also reduce preservative loss to the ground by up to 95%, making them suitable for use even in environmentally sensitive areas.
